In what currency can I pay for my booking?

Updated this week

When searching for a rate, you can select the currency in which prices will be displayed. When converting the rate price to display it in different currencies, the current exchange rate from Yahoo Finance is used.

Please note: If you have selected to display in a specific currency, it does not mean that the charge will occur in the selected currency and for the amount that appears in the search results.

The currency in which you can pay for your booking depends on the method of payment (see separate article for details on available methods).

  • Online payment on Ostrovok (“Pay now” rate)

If you pay at the time of booking on the website or in the Ostrovok app, the payment will be charged only in Russian rubles, even if you chose to display it in another currency when searching for a rate. The property can be located in any country.

When you select a specific rate, on the page for creating a booking, in the “Pay now in currency: Russian ruble” section, you will see the exact amount in Russian rubles that will be debited at the moment of completing the booking. If you select to display in another currency, the approximate amount will be shown.

If the card or account from which you make a payment is linked to another currency, the conversion is carried out at the exchange rate of your bank.

  • Payment at the property (“Pay on the spot” rate)

If you plan to pay upon arrival at the property, payment will need to be made in the official local currency. Some countries may officially use several currencies.

When you select a specific rate, on the booking page in the “Pay on the spot” section, the amount in local currency to be paid at the property will be indicated.

If you selected a different currency to display (other than the property's local currency), the approximate amount in the currency you selected will be shown.

Before travelling abroad, make sure that you can pay with your bank card in the country of arrival to avoid problems with check-in and payment on-site.

If on-site payment requires converting your account currency to the property's local currency, the exchange rate set by your bank will be used.

Please note: Your bank's exchange rate may be different from the rate used for conversion on Ostrovok. Therefore, all amounts in currencies other than those in which payment is to be made are only approximate.

In addition, some banks may charge various transaction fees. Detailed terms of payment in rubles or the property's local currency should be clarified with your bank's support service. Unfortunately, we will not be able to help with issues that are related to fees set by your bank.
