Why provide a bank card if the booking will be paid at the hotel?

Updated this week

If in the description of the rate there is a note “Credit card required,” the hotel will be ready to confirm the booking only if a bank card is provided. This way you guarantee the hotel that you will be arriving, which means the room will not be unused. For its part, the hotel guarantees your accommodation under the conditions specified in the booking.

Your bank card details will be transferred to the hotel in a secure document — no one except hotel representatives will be able to access it. The booking will be confirmed immediately after clicking the “Complete Booking” button and additional confirmation will be sent to your email.

Under the terms of your booking, the hotel may charge your card at any time, including prior to check-in. Also, the hotel may not debit your card for guarantee, but only freeze (preauthorize) the funds on it — in this case, the funds will still be on your

account, but you will not be able to use them until the pre-authorization is removed.

Important: The card you give to guarantee your booking must be valid and have sufficient funds to pay for the booking in full. The hotel may cancel the booking unilaterally if the debit fails.

When you arrive at the hotel, it is not necessary to pay for your booking with the same card you entered for the guarantee. Unless the hotel has previously charged the specified card, in most cases you can pay with cash or another card.
