The bathroom in a hotel can be either private or shared. In most cases, if nothing is stated otherwise, it is understood that the bathroom is private. However, some properties — such as guest houses — offer private bathrooms that are not located inside the room. In such cases, guests receive two keys at check-in: one for the room and one for the bathroom.
Unfortunately, hotels do not always provide us with details about where the private bathroom is located — whether it is inside or outside the room — or whether it has a shower or a bathtub. When this information is available, it will be clearly stated in the room description.
If the bathroom is shared, meaning it is used by guests from different rooms, this will always be indicated in the room category description and rate conditions.
Shared bathrooms are most commonly found in hostels and economy rooms.
